About the Artist

I was born and raised in west Texas and was interested in art as a child. I began drawing cars and horses with a pencil, then reality set in and before I knew it there was war, work, family and real need for food and shelter!

I started serious painting in 1968 on a dare from the pastor of my church. In the beginning it was not fun. However after studying under several professional artists, great personal satisfaction emerged. I painted a wide variety of subjects until I retired from my business about ten years ago. Since that time I have devoted most of my work to portraits while still enjoying animals and landscapes. You may review some on my work on the following pages.

Jesus knocking at the door

This is my painting of "Christ at Hearts Door", and I should mention that the original artist of this piece, Warren Sellman, was said to have been inspired to do this painting back in the Mid 1900s by the passage found in Revelations 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hears my voice, open the door".............An awesome verse, and awesome original painting. My version in no way compares to his, but it is the best this poor old country boy can do,  Ross
